Collection: Rose Flower Fairy

|
Rose is the first fairy that I painted in my Flower Fairy series. I had a set of Cicely Mary Barker's flower fairy series collector cards that I had taped all around my full length mirror in my childhood bedroom. When I started selling prints of my paintings online I got the idea to create my own series of flower fairies in my own style, and rose was the first one I decided to create. I tend to gravitate toward cool toned color pallets (blues and purples), but for this one I felt like peachy pinks and greens were the most fitting color scheme. I chose to create a blurry boku style background so that the focus would remain on the fairy and flowers. To achieve that effect I painted in blobs of color and then used the gaussian filter to blur and blend them together. I rarely use filters, but this was the best way to achieve the look I was going for here. I had so much fun painting the tiny water droplets and the fairy's translucent wings. I hope to keep adding more flowers to this series in the future. If you want to learn more about my painting process you can find that here.
